Treatment Philosophy
If you are seeking help with depression, anxiety, substance abuse or addiction, sexual issues, childhood issues, life transitions or simply the difficulties and stress of living in today's world, I may be able to help. In my practice, in Brentwood, Tennessee, I assist people with those issues and more. My patients include people from several ethnic groups as well as sexual, gender and racial minorities. I make a sincere effort to meet my clients where they are and to understand the particulars of their individual lives in the context of the world in which they live.
While I do consider counseling with children, adolescents, and the elderly to be crucial and quite beneficial, it is not work in which I am involved. These are specialized groups with unique needs that are best met by professionals in those areas. If you have any questions about whether I would be the right therapist for you or your loved one, please call. If I can't help, I will make every effort to steer you toward someone suited to your particular needs.
I have a fairly eclectic approach to my work. Some clients find that insight-oriented or psychodynamic therapy works well for them while others need approaches more designed to teach them skills for addressing issues. Still others find that a supportive and compassionate listener is all they need to reach their own answers. I will work with you to assess your needs and to help you get them met, whether that's through therapy with me, therapy with another professional, or some other intervention entirely.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this topic or other matters. I am committed to providing you the highest quality service and to being your partner in your recovery.
